The suspension of the no-sleeveless policy, announced last week, is also expected to lead to a relaxation of the dress code for Jamaica's courts.
With the courts generally seen as having one of the strictest and most traditional dress codes, questions have been raised regarding whether the suspension will also apply there. Justice Minister Delroy Chuck says he expects it to. However, he says Jamaicans will still be expected to dress appropriately.
The Justice Minister says he hopes when the Courts resumes from the break the Chief Justice will send a directive outlining the type of dress code that will be accepted.
The no-sleeveless policy prohibited persons wearing sleeveless attire from entry into government buildings.
However, a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister on Friday said a review of the practice found that there is no law or official government policy on which these prohibitions are based.
