Representatives from the Ministry of Education met Thursday with disgruntled teachers of Vere Technical High school in Clarendon, following Tuesday's violent attack on a teacher at the institution.
Classes were suspended on Wednesday after teachers staged a sit-in to protest against the decision of the police to lay charges against the female teacher who was assaulted on the compound by relatives of a student.
This prompted the Education Ministry to intervene.
Barrington Richardson, Director for the Ministry's Region 7, said the incident that occurred at the school is outrageous.
Mr. Richardson said the ministry will continue to support the affected teacher.
"The team from the ministry will now visit with the teacher to lend our support and to work through what that support will look like going forward. We understand that the teacher would have been affected, and so we are taking the time to ensure that the teacher is taken care of. And also at the same time, the students, the parent will be engaging in meetings to address the matter going forward," he outlined.
