Three females are among eight people arrested in the last 24-hours in relation to the $47.5 million phishing scam at the National Commercial Bank.

Officers from the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) and the Jamaica Constabulary Force conducted simultaneous operations at several locations across Kingston and Clarendon on Thursday and Friday.

Director of Communications at MOCA Major Basil Jarrett said the operations were carried out at residences in Whitehall Terrace, Kingston Gardens, Seaview Gardens, Stony Hill and Tavern in Kingston and St. Andrew, as well as Longville Park, Clarendon Park and May Pen in Clarendon. Arrest warrants were executed.

"The scam, which ran from April to June 2022, saw criminals targeting a number of NCB accounts and moving millions through fraudulent transfers. The latest arrests reaffirm our commitment to tackling financial crimes and holding perpetrators accountable," said Major Jarrett, who acknowledged the critical role the JCF played in the operations.

He urged the public to remain vigilant when conducting online transactions and to report any suspicious activity to 888-MOCA-Tip.
