Energy Minister pleased with progress of power restoration by JPS

Energy Minister Daryl Vaz

Energy Minister Daryl Vaz toured the Jamaica Public Service Company's control centre on Saturday to get an update on the power restoration exercise across the island.

The minister said he was "very pleaed with the progress, especially in St. Elizabeth", which was significantly affected by the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

Mr. Vaz said he will ask JPS to contact his opposition counterpart, Phillip Paulwell, to give him a similar tour of the control centre, so that there can be bipartisan support in the restoration effort.

"In this case, we need consensus to make sure that we are in agreement with the way forward and the timelines. So, I'm really happy today that we are making progress. It's my intention that by Monday when I present to Cabinet, everyday after, there will be a parish report indicating what was restored the day before and the projection for the next two to three days," he declared.
