The European Commission today officially placed Jamaica on a new list of high-risk countries with deficiencies in their regime regarding anti-money laundering and countering terrorist financing.
It published the list as it released a comprehensive approach to further strengthen the European Union's, fight against money laundering and terrorist financing.
The EU said under the Anti-Money Laundering Directive, the European Commission has revised its list, taking into account developments at the international level since 2018.
The other countries on the blacklist are the Bahamas, Barbados, Botswana, Cambodia, Ghana, Mauritius, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Panama and Zimbabwe.
Guyana is among six other developing countries that have been removed from the list.
The Commission said the new list will be submitted to the European Parliament and Council for approval within one month.
