The final count of ballots from Monday's Local Government Election is underway at centres across Jamaica's 63 constituencies.
The political directorate, including candidates, are allowed to be present for the official count along with returning officers and their assistants.
Director of Elections Glasspole Brown says the counting may go until Thursday morning.
"It depends on how quickly they are able to complete the count at the different locations," he said.
The preliminary results indicated that the Jamaica Labour Party has control of seven municipalities while the People's National Party holds the reigns of four. There is currently a tie for the Kingston and St. Andrew and Clarendon Municipal Corporations.
The PNP's Leon Thomas emerged victor in the mayoral race in Portmore beating the JLP's Markland Edwards.
