Finance Minister to table third revised budget for 2025-26

Finance Minister Fayval Williams will table Jamaica's third revised budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year, when the House of Representatives convenes Tuesday afternoon.

The move comes as the country deals with the severe economic impact of Hurricane Melissa.

On Monday, five major multilateral agencies announced a US$6.7 billion recovery package to help Jamaica's recovery and reconstruction over the next three years.

Hurricane Melissa caused US$8.8 billion, or J$1.42 trillion, in physical damage.

Mrs. Williams is also expected to table an amendment to Jamaica's fiscal rules, allowing temporary suspension on the national emergency provisions.

Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness has warned of the short- to medium-term rise in the debt-to-GDP ratio.

The Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) has projected an 11-13 per cent economic contraction for the December 2025 quarter - the sharpest decline since the COVID-19 pandemic.
