The full runway at Sangster International Airport is now in service after repairs were effected to a damaged section of the facility on Sunday.
The operators of the airport were forced to ground all flights leaving and entering the island after a 'blow out' was discovered on the runway.
A 'blow out' means a patch on the runway has shown signs of looseness or disturbance with the pavement.
Another runway was opened as an alternative to facilitate incoming and outgoing flights.
President and CEO of the Airports Authority of Jamaica, Audley Deidrick, said the repairs were completed sometime before midnight on Sunday.
He said a re-examinaton of the pavement project is being conducted by the contractors.
"They have no complete knowledge of what is going on underneath that surface and the kind of equipment, and ultrasounding of sort that will be done to ascertain that is not readily available. But as an alternative to that, they may just go for extensive replacement of the overlaying portions," noted Mr. Deidrick.
"In terms of even any further blowing out activities, they will be on spot to address them immediately while preparing to do the ultimate fixings that must, of necessity, be done," he added.
