Grenada becomes first CARICOM state to accede to the Convention on Cybercrime

Grenada recently made history by becoming the first member state of CARICOM to deposit the instrument of accession to the 2001 European Council Convention on Cybercrime, otherwise known as the Budapest Convention.

The Convention is the first international treaty on crimes committed via the Internet and other computer networks, dealing particularly with infringements of copyright, computer-related fraud, child pornography, and violations of network security.

With Grenada's accession, 72 states are now parties to the convention, and 19 have been invited to accede to the convention.
