The hearing to decide if there should be a re-trial in the murder case involving dance hall entertainer Vybz Kartel and his co accused continues this morning in the Court of Appeal.
This is expected to be the last day of the hearing, as presiding judge Marva McDonald Bishop has been stressing how full the court's diary is. The hearing had been scheduled to end last week Friday. But the lawyers's hadn't finished their submissions.
The prosecutors will this morning wrap up their arguments in favour of a re-trial.
The lawyers representing the accused men will then have a chance to respond to the cases which the prosecution used to support their arguments.
In addition, the judge had said both sides would get a chance to respond to the report from the Supreme Court on the status of matters sent from the Court of Appeal for re-trial in the past six years. It emerged that two cases had been sent for re-trial, one in September 2022 and the other in September 2023. No re-trial date has been set for either matter.
