Holness not fit for office, insists PNP president

PNP President and Opposition Leader Mark Golding along with PNP General Secretary Dr. Dayton Campbell

People's National Party (PNP) President and Opposition Leader Mark Golding has reiterated his claim that Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness is not fit for office, following the latest revelations in relation to his territory declarations.

The information is outlined in court documents filed by the Integrity Commission in the lawsuit brought against it by Prime Minister Holness.

Addressing a party meeting in Oracabessa, St. Mary on Sunday night, Mr. Golding said the PNP is ready to restore accountability in government.

"And it has now come out that the Prime Minister has even more legal problems. From the report reached Parliament last year, September I think it was, I said publicly the Prime Minister should tek weh himself. You cannot be running the country and be in charge of government with a cloud of this nature hanging over your head. I said to the Jamaica Labour Party, as an institution, they need to do the right thing. They have decided to tug it out, and look what happen now. Well, all I can tell you is third term is imploding, it is not loading because the people of Jamaica will not accept being governed any longer by a government in which they can have no trust and confidence," the Opposition Leader declared.

'Call it'

And as the People's National Party continues its push for the parliamentary election date to be announced, General Secretary Dr. Dayton Campbell has declared that the party will be making a strong push for the calling of the election this weekend at its Corporate Area parish meeting.

Speaking at the parish meeting in Oracabessa, St. Mary on Sunday night, Dr. Campbell reiterated that the window for a September general election, before the end of the current parliamentary term on the 15th of that month, is fast approaching.

"On Sunday, wi a guh up a town. If dem doe waan call eh, wi aguh call eh. Wi a guh up a town for Kingston and St. Andrew parish meeting, and that is the deadline for the election. So if Labour nuh call it, wi a call it because there is no disaster, no reason to delay the election," he told supporters.
