By Prince Moore

The police have reported that 14 guns and 15 magazines were found hidden among household items during a security operation at the Freeport warehouse in Montego Bay, St. James.

The illegal items were intercepted last Friday in a blue plastic barrel addressed to a recipient in Bogue Village, Montego Bay.

The operation was carried out by the Jamaica Constabulary Force and  Jamaica Customs Agency.

Officers from Jamaica Customs detected anomalies within a shipment from Florida, USA, during routine scanning.

The police say the suspicious consignment prompted a thorough examination by the Contraband Enforcement Team.

The illegal guns were seized about 10 a.m., Friday.

The police are seeking a person of interest in relation to the gun seizure.

He is identified only by several aliases: 'CJ', 'Fugitive' and 'Shippy'.

He is being asked to report to the nearest police station by midday tomorrow.

Members of the public are being urged to share any information they believe may be helpful to the police as the investigation continues.

The contact numbers are Police Emergency at 119, Crime Stop at 311, and the NIB Tip Line at 811, or any police station.
