Jackson calls for security minister to urgently tackle spike in murders

Opposition Spokesman on National Security Fitz Jackson has called for Minister of National Security Dr. Horace Chang to take urgent action to combat what he says is a spike in murders.

In a statement on Monday, Mr. Jackson said the killings over the weekend - including triple murders in St. Catherine and St. Ann - were indicative of creeping lawlessness and emboldened criminals, even in deep rural communities.

Mr. Jackson said murders have continued to escalate since the September 3 general election as there has not been sufficient Ministerial attention to public safety and national security.

Mr. Jackson is urging National Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang to respond with an effective policy initiative.
