Jamaica bracing for increased rainfall associated with Tropical Wave

Jamaica is expected to see increased rainfall as a slow-moving Tropical Wave moves across the island Tuesday into tomorrow.

The Met Service says projections are for cloudy conditions with periods of showers and thunderstorms, which may be heavy at times, to affect sections of most parishes, especially southern and northeastern parishes, beginning this morning through to tomorrow evening.

Fishers and other marine interests, especially those inshore and offshore the
south coast, should exercise extreme caution as sea conditions will deteriorate
in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms.

This Tropical Wave is forecast to merge with a broad area of Low Pressure across the southwestern Caribbean Sea by Wednesday evening.

The Low Pressure system has a 50 per cent chance of Tropical Cyclone development over the next seven days, and could begin influencing weather across Jamaica by Friday.
