Some of the Jamaica's architects say they feel insulted by the Government's decision to use a Chinese firm to design the new Parliament building and government offices at National Heroes Circle.
The Urban Development Corporation last week signed a Memorandum of Understanding with China Construction Company of America for the Government of Jamaica Parliament and Government Offices Oval Zone project.
The College of Fellows of the Jamaican Institute of Architects has written to Prime Minister Andrew Holness complaining that the move is an insult to local professionals and a disregard for Jamaican taxpayers.
It adds that it contradicts the Government's stated objective to create economic growth and employment.
The group adds that there are many local architects, planners, engineers, quantity surveyors and other construction industry professionals who are qualified to provide the design consultancy services.
