Days after news emerged that an increase was coming, consumers are now paying more for flour. Jamaica Flour Mills has confirmed that the adjusted prices for baking flour and counter flour took effect on Monday.
The company late last week signaled that an increase was imminent, due to the decline in the value of the Jamaican dollar as well as the rise in the cost of raw material and transportation.
Derrick Nembhard, Managing Director of Jamaica Flour Mills, told RJR News that the price for baking flour is up nearly eleven per cent while it is now costing seven per cent more for counter flour.
