JCF says improvement in investigative, operational capacity behind success in murder reduction

Senior Superintendent of Police Dennis Brooks

The Jamaica Constabulary Force is attributing the significant reduction in murders to improvement in the investigative and operational capacity of the police.

Up to December 20, Jamaica had officially recorded 649 murders, drastically down from the 1,136 recorded during the corresponding period in 2024.

Senior Superintendent Dennis Brooks, Senior Communications Strategist at the Jamaica Constabulary Force, believes a sub 700 murder rate will be a significant watershed moment for the country.

SSP Brooks, speaking Monday on Radio Jamaica’s Beyond the Headlines, asserted that the JCF is now more equipped to combat violent crimes.
