The Jamaica Civil Service Association (JCSA) is expressing confidence that it will finalise wage negotiations with Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke during a meeting scheduled for Friday.
There were concerns that the outstanding claims would not be settled prior to the departure of Dr. Clarke who will take up a position as Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund on October 31.
But JCSA President Techa Clarke-Griffiths says the outstanding items have already been agreed on in principle.
"The only one that was outstanding was the increment and we have gotten a draft position that we can work through. So it is not complicated to conclude this particular aspect of the negotiations. So I'm confident that Dr. Clarke is going to make sure that we conclude this aspect so that we can have industrial harmony going forward. I don't think he wants to erode any of his accomplishments and he wants to leave the public service at a point where, although we are not 100% satisfied, but we can work with the new person coming in," she reasoned.
Mrs. Clarke-Griffiths was speaking Wednesday night on TVJ's All Angles.

Meanwhile, President of the Jamaica Medical Doctors Association (JMDA) Dr. Renee Badroe said a meeting will be held on Thursday with the Finance Minister in an effort to reach a conclusion on outstanding claims.
She said her members remain restive and are eagerly awaiting the settlement of outstanding claims.
She said if an agreement is not reached before Dr. Clarke demits office, the incoming Finance Minister should make it a priority.
"We'll be looking for a swift resolution to the outstanding negotiation, April 1, 2022. So we want a swift resolution with whomever it is that takes up this office because our doctors are restive. They are very restive and they are disgruntled. They are upset. And with all these issues that we've had, they feel that they've been slighted," she insisted.
