JLP criticises PNP manifesto

The governing Jamaica Labour Party criticised the opposition People's National Party's manifesto on Thursday, claiming it is riddled with inaccuracies and packed with "copy and paste" ideas.

The PNP was first in releasing its manifesto for the upcoming general eleciton, doing so on Tuesday evening, but it came after the governing JLP launched its "record of achievements" publication.

At a press conference on Thursday, JLP Campaign Committee Chairman Dr. Christopher Tufton, highlighting what he said was  a plan of action littered with flubs,  argued that the opposition had presented recycled ideas, which did not reflect well for its campaign.

The PNP has proposed the expansion of services financed by the National Health Fund, including free surgical implants and screenings for people sixty years and older, as well as the launch of a national maternal and child health programme to reduce mortality rates, among others.

Assessing the heath proposals, Dr Tufton, who is Minister of Health, said his team has been actively addressing the critical issues affecting the sector.

He said the JLP's record of achievements publication is being well received.

He also said that the party's manifesto is ready.
