In the wake of news that the UK based Privy Council will be handing down its judgment next week in the appeal of Adidja Palmer (stage name Vybz Kartel), some of his supporters are anticipating his release.
The Judicial Committee of the Privy Council have set next Thursday March 14 as the day it will deliver its decision after two days of submissions last month from attorneys representing Palmer and his three co-accused.
The Law Lords raised questions around the judge's decision to continue the trial after it was revealed that a member of the jury pool had offered a bribe to the foreman to swing the verdict in favour of Palmer.
Supporters of the entertainer, in a section of Portmore called Gaza, are in a jubilant mood concerning the possibility of the convicted dancehall artiste walking free.
Music Producer Garfield Francis believes a concert would be a fitting welcome for the entertainer.
"Wow! That is a must," he proclaimed in response to a question regarding the possibility of such a concert. The only question to be resolved in his reckoning is which venue would be most suitable to host the event, particularly having regard to to its size.
In that regard, he said the only two possibilities are the National Stadium in Kingston Jamworld Entertainment Centre in Portmore. but expressed a preference for Jamworld, given Palmer's residence is in Portmore, declarint "Poertmore for Sure!"
On a more sobering note, Francis said it was most important for Palmer, if released from prison based on the Privy Council's ruling, to spend time in the immediate aftermath with his parents and children.
Adijah Palmer, Shawn Campbell - also known as "Shawn Storm" - Kahira Jones and Andre "Mad Suss" St. John were convicted on March 13, 2014 for the murder of Clive Lizard Williams.
They were all sentenced to life in prison.
