JUTC Corporate Communications Manager Cecil Thoms

The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) says 275 buses were dispatched on Monday morning to facilitate the increased demand due to the full resumption of face-to-face classes.

JUTC Corporate Communications Manager Cecil Thoms said an additional 45 buses were added to the fleet.

"Our maintenance team worked feverishly over the weekend to ensure that we met our target, and thanks to them, we did. In addition, our drivers were on the ready to transport students and commuters at large, as we anticipated increased traffic and people with today, of course, being the resumption of face-to-face school," he said.

He said there were minor delays with buses due to heavy congestion in sections of Kingston and St. Andrew as well as Portmore and Spanish Town in St. Catherine.
