The Kingston & St Andrew Municipal Corporation on Wednesday announced the creation of a 10 member advisory committee.

The committee is chaired by Reverend Dr Devon Dick, Pastor of Boulevard Baptist Church.

Mayor of Kingston and Chairman of the Corporation Andrew Swaby said the committee will be tasked to ensure that the principles of accountability, transparency and ethical leadership are upheld in the KSAMC.

He said the committee will zero in on key areas for the development of the municipal corporation, prioritising "clean, safe and orderly neighbourhoods, sustainable and strategic infrastructure development, technological and climate-smart solutions, inclusive economic growth and job creation, revenue enhancement, and fiscal responsibility."

The committee has also been asked to provide guidance on "policies, community development, plans and solutions to structural challenges," while also acting "as a bridge between the KSAMC, our stakeholders and the citizens we serve," Mayor Swaby said.

It has also been asked to ensure that the accounts of the corporation are in order, with its first task being "to review the financial accounts and records of the municipal corporation..."
