Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton says land has been identified in Bernard Lodge, St. Catherine to establish a hospital for Portmore when it becomes a parish.
His comment follows concerns that the government has not set up basic amenities for Portmore ahead of its decision to pass a law for it to have parish status.
Dr. Tufton says the necessary preliminary steps will be taken ahead of the development.
"The feasibility study is now being done to determine the format and the structure of that hospital that will then, based on the current borders, be incorporated in the Portmore new parish. So we have thought of that, we have the vision and we have the strategic plan and we are working towards that," he declared.
He was speaking Wednesday at the monthly meeting of the St. Catherine Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
