Lloyd Goodleigh is dead

Lloyd Goodleigh, President of the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions (JCTU), and a former General Secretary of the National Workers Union (NWU), is dead.

Mr. Goodleigh passed away at Andrews Memorial Hospital, where he had been recovering from a recent operation, on Monday morning.

He is the fourth trade unionist to have died since the start of the year. The NWU's Clive Dobson and Roosevelt Turner, as well as Trade Union Congress Head Hopeton Caven, all passed away recently. 

In his last public role, Lloyd Goodleigh headed the Secretariat for the new Labour Market Reform Commission.
