The Magisterial recount for the Llandewey Division is under way in the St. Thomas Parish Court in Yallahs.
The proceeding started at 10 o'clock.
Following the final count of ballots in the local government election, the Electoral Office of Jamaica declared the seat for the Jamaica Labour Party's Andrea Patience, who received 1,316 votes, while Edwin Marr of the People's National Party received 1,309 votes.
That is a difference of seven votes.
Radio Jamaica's correspondent Henry Shirley says contingents from both political parties are gathered outside the courthouse, while the candidates and their legal representatives are inside observing the recount.
