Jamaica's two main political parties are reporting they are in a high state of readiness with Prime Minister Andrew Holness indicating yesterday that a general election could be called soon.
Mr. Holness gave the signal during a visit to the constituency of Clarendon North Central.
Radio Jamaica News also caught up with Jamaica Labour Party General Secretary Dr. Horace Chang, who disclosed that all the candidates are in place.
"We've maintained our machine in place, so whenever the Prime Minister choose to ring the bell...we'll be go," he said.
The Party's Central Executive is scheduled to meet on Sunday in Montego Bay, St. James.
The People's National Party, in the meantime, has said it is on high alert for the announcement of the election date.
"We're ready. All our candidates are in place. Our communication strategy and programme will be rolled out in the next couple of days. We have done a lot of work on our policy platform and again we'll be rolling that out. So again, we're ready whenever the Prime Minister announces," PNP General Secretary Julian Robinson told Radio Jamaica News Tuesday night.
