Man beaten after waving gun at group in Hanover facing charges

A man who was badly beaten by a mob after he reportedly waved an illegal gun at party supporters during Monday's Local Government Election in Lucea, Hanover, is under police guard at hospital.
 
Investigators say the 38-year-old man is facing a long list of criminal charges upon his release from hospital.
 
The Hanover police reported that about 9:30 p.m., the man, identified as a resident of Lilliput, St. James, was among some People's National Party supporters who were celebrating their party's victory in Hanover, when he brandished a firearm and began waving it in a threatening manner when members of the group attacked, beat and disarmed him.
 
He received serious injuries and was rushed to hospital.
 
The cops further reported that about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, persons went to a section of Kew district, Lucea, where they saw a bag containing the firearm and handed over the weapon to the the police.
 
It's believed the weapon is linked to Monday's incident.
