A man has been charged with the January 26 murder of a nine-year-old in Clarendon.
The police say 25-year-old Joel Williams, of Windsor Avenue which is popularly known as Ghetto, has also been charged for wounding a female shopkeeper during the incident.
The child was identified as Shamar Walker, of Church Street in May Pen.
Police said about 7:45 p.m. on the day of the killing, a group of people were at a shop when a man entered and stayed for about 30 minutes.
He then opened gunfire hitting the young boy and the woman.
They were both rushed to hospital where Shamar, who was shot in the chest, was pronounced dead, and the woman admitted in serious condition.
Mr. Williams is to appear before the Clarendon Parish Court on March 28.
