A man was fatally shot during a targeted operation in Burnt Savannah, St. Elizabeth on Monday morning.
He has only been identified by his alias, 'Punkie'.
The police say had previously been charged for possession of a prohibited weapon.
The operation got underway at 4 o'clock.
The Jamaica Defence Force and several police formations took part in the operation.
INDECOM says the latest incident has increased the number of police fatal shootings to 244 since the start of the year.
