A man who was a person of interest in at least two murders in St. Thomas was fatally shot during a targeted Police operation on Wednesday.
He is 45-year Dyron Bailey, otherwise called 'Day Two', a farmer of Somerset in the parish.
According to reports, about 2 p.m., the police went into the community in search of Mr. Bailey.
When he was accosted by the police, he reportedly engaged the police in a shootout.
He was shot and wounded, then taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM) is probing the incident.
Superintendent Michael Campbell, Commanding Officer for the St. Thomas Police, has sought to advise persons who are accosted by the police not to attempt to challenge the lawmen.
