A 48-year-old man is hospitalised in serious condition after he was shot while attempting to attack police personnel inside the Lucea Police Station in Hanover, on Monday morning.
Investigators reported that about 9 o'clock, a female constable attached to the station had just exited the compound when she was attacked by the machete weilding man.
She ran back into the guard room screaming for assistance as the man gave chase.
Another female constable at the front desk was forced to flee when the man ran into the guard room, causing a commotion.
A sergeant who heard the commotion, pulled his weapon and opened fire on the machete wielding suspect who refused an order to drop the weapon.
The wounded man collapsed outside the guard room.
He is under police guard at hospital.
