The Manchester police are attempting to assure residents of the parish that their crime-fighting efforts are reaping success.
Deputy Superintendent Carey Duncan, head of the division, says there was a reduction in seven major crimes.
"Last year at this time, we recorded 120 major crimes in the parish of Manchester. To date, this year, we have recorded 56 major crimes," he noted.
While murders and most other major crimes are down, DSP Duncan conceded that there is an increase in shootings.
"But that, we are working on assiduously because we are going to get that down also," he vowed.
The senior cop was speaking during a town hall meeting at the Bible Way Apostolic Church in Plowden.
