The Spanish Town police are probing an incident in which an 81-year-old medical doctor was attacked and injured by a knife wielding man, said to be mentally ill, on Monday afternoon.
Radio Jamaica News was informed that shortly after midday, the doctor was at her medical practice on Martin Street in Spanish Town, when she was attacked by a man who used a knife to slash her in the face.
The man was held by citizens and badly beaten.
He was taken to Spanish Town Hospital where he is being treated.
The injured doctor was attended to by a fellow practitioner and treated for her wounds.
