have walked off the job.

The nurses and doctors at the casualty department of the Mandeville Regional Hospital are now on the outside of the department citing overcrowding as their problem.
"The situation at the moment is that for sometime now we have been having serious problems with overcrowding. The Accident and Emergency Department which should only take emergency cases is not being used as a holding area for all categories of patients," said the CEO of the hospital.
"From Sunday night the situation has worsened where we have 17 patients being held in the Accident and Emergency Department and added to that the four consultation rooms used by doctors to examine the patients we have also had to house patients in those rooms," she said.
The management of the Southern Regional Health Department said it is aware of the situation.
