Mob killing claims the life of alleged sex offender

The Police High Command has renewed its call for persons to desist from participating in mob violence.  It follows an incident which claimed the life of  34-year-old Granville Dyer of  Solitaire Road in Kingston.

According to a statement from the police, Mr. Dyer was allegedly attacked by residents in Seivwright Gardens on Wednesday. He died yesterday. Mr. Dyer was a suspect in a case being probed by the St. Andrew South Police and the Centre for Investigation of  Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA).  

Acting Commissioner, Glenmore Hinds, is urging persons not to engage in jungle justice but instead assist the Police in the apprehension of  suspects. He said an investigation is being carried out into Mr. Dyer's death.

An appeal is being made to witnesses to contact the St. Andrew South Police, Crime Stop at 311, Police 119 emergency number or the nearest Police Station.
