RJR News has been informed that there is to be a further
shake-up in the divisional command of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
Superintendent Maurice Robinson who is in charge of the Westmoreland Police will be going to St. James.
He will replace Superintendent Steve McGregor who has been assigned to the Motorised Patrol Division.
Superintendent Que Morgan will be leaving Motorised Patrol for the Services Branch while Superintendent Deseta Taylor, who is currently at Area One, is to take charge of the Westmoreland Division.
The Manchester Division is also included in the shake-up with Superintendent Martin Bayliss, who currently heads the division, heading to Area Three.
Superintendent Ryland Salmon will take over from Superintendent Bayliss.
The changes are expected to take effect during this month.
Businesses/residents not happy with Supt's transfer
Meanwhile, an emergency meeting between members of the St. James Police scheduled for Saturday did not materialize.
The meeting was to discuss the impending transfer of their Commanding Officer, Superintendent Steve McGregor, who has been in charge of the Division for two years.
He is to be transferred later this month.
It is reported that rank and file members in the Division are extremely upset about his removal.
The transfer has also not gone down well with members of the business sector and residents of some volatile communities.
According to Lloyd B. Smith, President of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce, the transfer could not have come at a worse time.
Mr. Smith said notwithstanding the large number of homicides, Superintendent McGregor has developed a meaningful relationship with the business sector and the Montego Bay community in general.
He added that a transfer at this time will not in any way alleviate the current crime problem.
