Members of the Muslim community in Jamaica have donated J$40 million in medical supplies to the health sector.
The assistance comes as hospitals continue to buckle under the strain of overcrowding.
The donated items include critical equipment that have been in demand since Hurricane Melissa hit.
Health facilities, including Mandeville Regional and St. Ann's Bay hospitals have been struggling to keep pace with the influx of patients from neighbouring parishes since hurricane Melissa.
Shaheed Muhammad, Director of the Portmore Islamic Centre, said the Muslim community has taken action to help bridge some of the gaps in the health sector.
