Prime Minister Andrew Holness has revealed that a list of 31 names of known criminals has been submitted to US law enforcement officials as part of bilateral efforts to eradicate transnational organised crime.
That update comes as the Prime Minister indicated on Monday that people behind bars and outside of Jamaica's borders were directly responsible for Sunday night's terror attack in Clarendon in which eight people were fatally shot and nine others wounded.
In light of the external assistance, Mr. Holness expressed confidence that the authorities will be successful in their bid to nab violence producers.
"I've made two trips to Washington, where I met with the Department of Justice, and we have provided those lists, 31 names, I believe, and they are still under, well, I don't want to say too much, but the cooperation with our partners continues," he said on Tuesday.
During a series of high level meetings in 2022, local officials shared with Washington a number of Jamaican criminals living in the United States who are allegedly directing, soliciting, or financing crime in Jamaica.
