Mark Golding
Opposition Leader Mark Golding says he has taken no offence to statements made by party member Damion Crawford in an audio recording which has surfaced in recent days.
In the leaked telephone conversation, Mr. Crawford hinted that Mr. Golding's leadership would only be good for the next two years.
But Mr. Golding says he believes people are entitled to their opinions and it is clear Mr. Crawford intended his comments to remain private.
"I'm not harbouring any permanent grouse against him for having expressed the view that he thought I was only the right person for two years or whatever... I can look past that and I have."
"I understand that Damion is a person that speaks his mind but his mind isn't always constant, in the sense that his views can change as situations evolve. So I believe we can work together. And I hope he will learn from this particular experience and exercise a little bit greater restraint in expressing his views on this topic, certainly over any form of medium," the PNP president suggested.
Mr. Golding said the party will have to investigate other issues surrounding the leaked audio "and make an internal decision around that."
He said he has spoken to Mr. Crawford as well the other persons in the recorded conversation.
Crawford responds
Mr. Crawford has responded to the leaked conversation.
In a post on his Facebook page, he said the conversation was before the nomination or election for the position of PNP president.
He said the two women he was speaking with are people he considered friends and they called him to have the conversation.
Mr. Crawford said the views expressed about Lisa Hanna and Mark Golding were also said directly to them in private conversations.
He contended that while the conversation was not meant for public consumption, a discussion analysing presidential candidates is natural among members of a political party.
