Disgruntled residents of two North West St. Elizabeth communities took their frustration with the delayed restoration of electricity to the streets this morning.

Residents of Coker and Vauxhall blocked the Maggotty to Appleton road in the vicinity of the Coker Bridge with trees, stones and other debris.

The residents say following the passage of Hurricane Beryl, no representative from the Jamaica Public Service Company has visited the areas.

Michael Rhoden says a power line was damaged during the storm and residents cleaned the area to make it easier for JPS in the restoration process.

"All di overhanging tree dem weh di strom blow, we assist dem and help clean it so that we can get some light here, and nobody looking at us; nobody nah look pon wi. So anuh di power line a di problem, a JPS. Di people are fed up so we haffi tek it to di streets," he complained.

The residents say neighbouring communities such as Maggotty have had their electricity restored.

Meanwhile, they have called for their Member of Parliament J.C. Hutchinson to assist them in getting potable water, which they say has been absent for more than two decades.

The residents have vowed to continue their protest until electricity is restored.
