Numerous landslides in Portland

Port Antonio: As heavy rains continue in the north eastern Jamaica parish of Portland over the last twelve hours, there are numerous land slippages at Black Hill along the North Coast highway and a tree has fallen across the road at Brown’s Town Gate, making it possible for only cars to pass.

Drivers of larger vehicles like buses and trucks have to use Rodney Hall, an alternate route to and from Hope Bay.

Service crews from the National Works Agency were on the road on Saturday clearing slippages along the way.

Electricity went out in sections of the parish on Sunday evening for about two hours.
