Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness
Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says another National Water Commission (NWC) amnesty is on the cards.
This time it will benefit operators of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
"So that those who are in business, but because they can't pay the water bill...they have to close [their business] or they have to shut it down or it's having an impact on them, we are now going to announce that [amnesty], so they too can benefit from a reduction in the cost of doing business," he announced.
The last NWC amnesty, which ended on May 31, targeted pensioners, Programme of Advancement Through Health and Education (PATH) recipients, the disabled and other residential customers.
It aimed to reconnect customers who have been disconnected from the system for more than six months, due to having owed fees to the water utility.
