NWC systems in St. Ann, St. Mary, Portland still affected by drought

The National Water Commission says it supply systems in St. Ann, St. Mary and Portland continue to be impacted by ongoing drought.

The NWC says despite the country being in the final quarter of the severe dry season, some facilities are experiencing reduced production capacity affecting water distribution across the northeastern parishes.

The NWC says some of the affected systems are producing water at 10-40% of normal capacity.

To mitigate the impact of the drought, several regulated water supply and trucking schedules have been implemented to service the affected areas.

The NWC is encouraging customers to continue adopting water conservation habits and ensure proper water storage during this time.
