Old hotel building at Titchfield High declared safe

The Ministry of Education is reporting that the old hotel building, at Titchfield High School, in Portland, is structurally safe.

Concerns were raised, recently, in a media report, about the structural soundness of the building and the safety of students and other persons using the building.

The Ministry said on Thursday, that it commissioned an inspection of the building and it has found that the structure is sound and in no danger of collapsing.

The engineers’ report says the building, while being fundamentally sound, has a number of defects that need attention.

The Ministry says it is now getting an estimate of cost, for the repairs needed to correct the defects in the building.
