The Office of Utilities Regulation says its validation checks on the work of the Jamaica Public Service in St. Elizabeth and Manchester post Hurricane Beryl, are in line with the reports from the light and power company.
The OUR says its technical team has made observations on the restoration of the JPS's transmission and distribution infrastructure and reconnection of electricity supply.
This follows JPS's announced completion of its restoration efforts last weekend.
The OUR team reported that all primary and secondary distribution circuits that were impacted are now restored and energized.
But, in terms of supply to customers, there are some premises where supply has not been restored due to their electrical installations not being in place to accommodate service connection.
The technical team discovered that some circuits, including structures, were restored based on a rapid repair approach, and as a result, the problematic issues of leaning pole structures, excessive sagging of conductors, extended pole spans, and more, that existed before and after Hurricane Beryl, remain.
This has implications for the network's structural integrity and resilience.
The OUR says it will continue monitoring JPS's plan to revisit and reinforce the installations as part of its rebuilding and resilience strategy.
