As the integration of technology and greater digitisation become central in the government's long term development plan, Prime Minister, Dr. Andrew Holness says keen attention is being given to the use of artificial intelligence.
Dr Holness, addressing the matter on Monday, added that artificial intelligence could be used to simplify existing red tape that has delayed national projects and frustrated members of the public seeking to conduct business.
Noting that there's still much to be done to advance the pace of Jamaica's transition to becoming a digital society," he said it was particularly important to "accelerate the dititization of government processes and services, so that citizens are able to access more government services online, in the comfort of their homes."
That, he said, would allow them to avoid any worry "about transportation and long lines."
The Prime Minister was speaking at the swearing-in ceremony for newly appointed ministers, Audrey Marks and Delano Seiveright.
