PM Holness says much at stake as voters gear up for election

Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness

Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says there is a lot at stake as voters gear up to cast their ballots for the next administration.

There is high anticipation for the announcement of the date for the parliamentary general election.

Prime Minister Holness says his administration has been deliberate in ensuring the country as a whole continues to develop.

"We have been very active in moving almost every sphere of Jamaica forward, and that is why we say 'Choose Jamaica' because when Jamaica does well and Jamaica prospers, everyone in Jamaica prospers. Think about it. We have halved murders in Jamaica, we have more than halved serious crimes. Everybody benefits from that. And so we say choose security for Jamaica," he said.

The Prime Minister added that the government has stabilised taxation, so "nobody has to worry about new taxes being put on the budget every year".

Dr. Holness was speaking recently at the launch of community Wi-Fi sites at the DuPont Primary and Infant School on Olympic Way in St. Andrew.
