Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness has condemned the killing of the two police officers along Waltham Park Road on Thrusday evening, calling the attack violent and senseless.

Constable Charles Stewart, who was attached to the Spanish Town Police and Constable Jemarey Gordon, attached to the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigations Branch (C-TOC), were killed about 7:40 p.m. outside their business place.

Dr. Holness said he has been fully briefed by the Police High Command and is assuring the country that the investigation is active and relentless.

He said the government will give the JCF full support as they move to capture those responsible.

The Prime Minister urged Jamaicans to stand with the officers' families and the wider Constabulary Force, describing the loss as heartbreaking for the nation.

Meanwhile, Opposition Spokesman on National Security Fitz Jackson noted that the attack comes as Jamaica is still struggling to recover from Hurricane Melissa, calling it a deep blow to a nation already grieving.

"Jamaicans are being forced to confront not only the pain of natural disaster but also the trauma of these violent crimes against our police officers. This vicious attack is not only an assault on individuals but an assault on law and order
and on all Jamaicans who rely on the security forces to protect us," he asserted.
