Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness has promised that his new administration will end absolute poverty.
The Prime Minister, delivering his inaugural address after being sworn in for a third consecutive term on Tuesday, said the government will focus on spurring economic growth as it seeks to achieve that poverty fighting target.
He said economic growth will positively influence various sectors, including healthcare, agriculture and tourism.
Clarity needed
In response to the inaugural address, public commentator Granville Knight said the Prime Minister should have articulated clear metrics on growth projections for the country, during his inaugural speech.
Mr Knight, speaking on Radio Jamaica’s Beyond the Headlines, expressed the view that Dr Holness should have been more precise in his promise to eliminate absolute poverty.
