The People's National Party (PNP) has accused the opposition Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) of purchasing a domain name using the name of its President and Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller.
The PNP charged on Tuesday that the aquisition of the domain name portiasimpsonmiller.com was a cowardly act of desperation to drive traffic to the JLP website www.jamaicalabourparty.com.
When RJR News attempted to visit portiasimpsonmiller.com we were redirected to the JLP's website.
The PNP said it views the JLP's actions as immoral and unethical.
The JLP said this was in response to what it said was the PNP's use of the party's tag line Poverty to Prosperity.
In its own statement on Tuesday, the JLP said the PNP had been using the tag line as part of a domain name purchased on August 24.
The Party has characterised the actions of the PNP as a cowardly act of.
The JLP said the tag line was first used by Prime Minister Bruce Golding in 2011 and thereafter by Opposition Leader Andrew Holness in his budget presentation, and by other Party members as well.
